Dear Serendipity Families and Community Members,

In light of yesterday’s events at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde Texas, we are heartbroken and shocked as this type of tragedy continues to ravage our country. Our hearts and sincere sympathy go out to that small community who have to endure this type of unspeakable loss.

While our country reckons with yet another event like this, as always, we are prepared to help our students and family members make sense of the unfathomable pain and sorrow felt by so many. Your student’s Case Manager is  available to help you and your student navigate resources as needed to process their feelings and anxiety. We know as parents and guardians, this tragedy raises concerns about your own child’s safety. Please know that your child’s safety and well-being are our top priority. As is already established protocol, all visitors enter through a locked and electronically monitored door, and do not have access directly into the main school area before having to sign in and retain visitor status. We continue to be diligent and collaborative in making sure this protocol is followed at all times.

It goes without saying that the days ahead are going to be hard for us as a nation to reconcile a loss of this magnitude. We stand with all educators and mental health professionals who day in and day out work with our most “precious cargo” and do so with so much love and joy.

If you have any outstanding concerns or if your child needs individual support in processing this awful news, please reach out and know that help is available to you and your child.

Best,

Serendipity Center Management and Staff
