School Closure Due to Weather
Because our students come from many school districts, we realize that some areas may be more affected by inclement weather. We encourage parents and guardians to use their best judgment and understand if some students are unable to attend school today. When inclement weather causes Serendipity to close school or to release students early, families will find these announcements posted on the HOME page of this website. Because of our students’ reliance on district transportation, Serendipity does not use late openings. News of Serendipity school closures or early dismissals due to inclement weather are also announced through Flash Alerts to local media channels and recorded on Serendipity’s 24-hour emergency answering service (503-241-4509).
Serendipity’s Student/Family Handbook includes the philosophy, beliefs, core practices, and summarized policies that guide all aspects of our school. Important information regarding attendance, behavioral expectations, meetings, and communication can be found here. To download the complete Handbook, please click Student & Family Handbook (English version), or Student & Family Handbook (Spanish version).
Medication at School
Many Serendipity students take medication during their school days. Our Certified Medication Assistant and contracted RN work with families and providers. While Serendipity’s policies are summarized and explained in the Student & Family Handbook, it is important for some policies to be available in their complete form. The following policies can be downloaded here:
