F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)

How do I get my child enrolled in your program?

All of Serendipity’s referrals are generated from local public school districts. It is the district that needs to determine that they are not able to meet the needs of a student within the district. They may then decide to contract with Serendipity Center for therapeutic school services.

How long will my child be in your program?

There is no pre-determined length of stay in our program. Each student’s progress is closely tracked by Serendipity staff and reviewed by that student’s team. When it is determined by that team that a student has made adequate progress, a plan to transition the student to a less restrictive setting is developed.

What supplies should I send to school with my student?

Any supplies that may be necessary in our setting (ie: paper, notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, binders, etc.) are provided by Serendipity Center. Many of our students bring a backpack/book bag to and from school to carry their work.

Is there a cost to the parent?

The cost of a student’s tuition is the responsibility of the school district. In some cases, the mental health dollars help to fund a student’s placement. Supplies are provided by Serendipity Center. There is no cost to parents.

How will my child get to and from school every day?

Transportation to and from school is provided by the school district.

Can my child have his/her medication administered during the school day?

Absolutely. We have a Certified Medical Assistant (C.M.A) on campus every school day to address medication needs. We have a registered nurse on our campus twice monthly. She is also available to do staff trainings and to respond to student’s medical needs on a case-to-case basis.
